Leaders collaborating on community strategy

Board of Directors

Leadership grounded in stewardship

Four complementary roles guide strategy, fiscal integrity, governance, and community partnership.

Governance Structure

Independent oversight for a public charity mandate.

Our board operates as an independent governing body responsible for mission fidelity, grant diligence, financial controls, and annual compliance. Decisions prioritize beneficiaries first and institutional credibility always.

Leonard Staller, Principal Officer and President

Lead Executive

Leonard Staller

Principal Officer / President

Leonard provides executive direction for the Fund’s charitable strategy, external partnerships, and institutional voice. He ensures grantmaking remains aligned with our 501(c)(3) purposes: financial, educational, and humanitarian assistance for underprivileged communities.

As Principal Officer, he oversees board agenda setting, high-level due diligence, and the integrity of public representations made on behalf of the organization.

Sarah F. Caldwell, Treasurer and Financial Officer

Financial Steward

Sarah F. Caldwell

Treasurer / Financial Officer

Sarah leads fiscal stewardship across budgeting, disbursement controls, and financial reporting readiness. She monitors gift processing pathways, expense documentation, and the controls that protect restricted and unrestricted charitable assets.

Her mandate includes ensuring donor intent is honored and that every award can be traced through accountable financial records.

Alicia B. Caldwell, Secretary and Operations Lead

Secretary & Governance

Alicia B. Caldwell, M.P.A.

Secretary & Operations Lead

Alicia maintains governance documentation, board minutes, policy continuity, and operational cadence. With a Master of Public Administration background, she translates compliance requirements into workable internal systems.

She safeguards process quality—from RFP intake protocols to records retention—so the Fund can scale thoughtfully without losing institutional memory.

Lawrence J. Hayes, Program and Outreach Director

Community Outreach

Lawrence J. Hayes, M.S.W.

Program & Outreach Director

Lawrence connects the Fund to community partners working at the front lines of hunger, illness-related hardship, and educational inequity. His social-work training informs trauma-aware partnership design and beneficiary-centered program review.

He cultivates relationships that help the board understand real conditions on the ground before grant decisions are finalized.

How the Board Decides

A grant diligence rhythm, not a rubber stamp.

Mission screen, then mechanics.

Every proposal is evaluated first for charitable purpose fit, then for budget realism, leadership capacity, and reporting readiness. Awards are made only when both the human need and the operational plan are credible.

Conflict Awareness

Board members disclose potential conflicts and recuse when personal interests could compromise independent judgment.

Public Trust

We treat exemption status as a privilege that requires annual attention, honest communication, and donor privacy discipline.
